Playa Las Palmas

Playa Las Palmas is a picturesque and secluded oasis, perfect for a leisurely stroll, or simply relaxing as the waves roll lazily in. There are also some wild horses that often make an appearance.

I went on a Friday afternoon at 4:30 and there were only a handful of other people. The horses were nowhere to be seen when I first arrived, but they showed up by the time I came back from the other end of the beach. They were in the process of being yelled at, as they had gotten into the blankets and bags that some kids had brought to watch the sunset. The horses appeared unconcerned and in no hurry to leave. My phone had died or I would have taken some pictures.

Getting There

The road has a couple little bumpy spots but it’s not bad, do-able in whatever vehicle you have. I did have a deer run across the road right in front of me in one spot, so stay alert. It’s not a long drive once you leave the highway. I want to say it’s like 7-8 minutes.

You actually go through private land to get to the beach, but you are allowed to visit. You might find a gate across the road as you are heading out, in which case just open it to go through and close it back after you.
